Luna Peak Links

LOCAL COMMUNITY SERVICE

Our local community service group for high schoolers called “Luna Peak Links” was established in 2019 by Daniel Lomboy-Lowe and Luke Rafijah. The Links take a hands-on approach to community outreach in the South Bay. So far they have volunteered at the Pediatric Therapy Network and Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times events. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the group has continued their engagement in socially distant initiatives such as beach cleanups, sending letters to nursing homes, shoe drives, and collecting donations for women’s shelters and refugees from Afghanistan. The Links support Luna Peak Foundation by delivering Luna Peak book donations to local cancer hospitals.

Luna Peak Links Juniors

Elementary & middle School “links”

In 2022, a new “Links” cohort was created for elementary and middle school students who want to support Luna Peak with community service initiatives. Our Luna Peak Links Juniors have supported Luna Peak’s annual Cubing for Cancer events, hosted lemonade stands, led beach clean-ups, and delivered succulent plants (and smiles) to senior citizens at the Canterbury. At Cabrillo Elementary, Links Juniors read to students and helped set up an accessible student store with clothes and supplies for those in need. To learn more or apply to join the Links Juniors group, email lunapeaklinks@gmail.com.

Grant Funded Programs

We are honored to be a 2022 and 2023 grant recipient of Vistas for Children. Aligned with a mission to serve children in the South Bay, Luna Peak brought engaging event for pediatric cancer patients at local children’s hospitals.

Our cofounder Melody, a childhood cancer survivor, delivered Kicking Cancer workbooks, and Follow Me, Cancer Free books, Color Me, Cancer Free, and Beyond Remission photography books to patients and their families. Spanish translated books were also donated alongside the care packages of books and coloring utensils and toys. This program is meant to spread hope and help families see that they are not alone.

We are thankful for the support of Vistas for Children that helps us bring hope to patients and their families.
