Childhood Cancer Foundation of southern california

20 Grief Workbooks and Beyond Grief books were donated to the Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California in addition to care packages for children. Over 200 Beyond Remission books were also donated for the Kid’s Walk.

“These books are part of their ‘educational assistance’ as they provide them to families that have lost their child to cancer. Social workers and friends of the family reach out to CCF asking if there are any books that can help families through their grief. These grief books have been a piece of hope to the parents, siblings, and/or families as they can relate to other’s testimonials on their grief. Through the testimonials families feel like they are not the only ones feeling that way. PAUSE is a nonprofit organization reimagining how individuals, communities, and institutions engage with grief, caregiving, and end-of-life. Over 50 Luna Peak books were donated to attendees at Pause’s BIPOC Grief Resource Fair. Luna Peak is honored to have our grief publications featured in PAUSE’s BIPOC author Book Nook.

keaton’s child cancer alliance

Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance provides a network of compassionate support to children with cancer and their families. They serve children and their families referred from UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, Sutter Memorial, Kaiser Permanente Roseville, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, Kaiser Permanente Oakland.

Board member, Jonathan Reid, helped deliver 20 Grief Workbooks, 80 Follow Me, Cancer Free books and 90 Kicking Cancer workbooks to add to their hope chests, memorial boxes that they deliver to patients and families.

sycamores - first delivery to “el nido”

Sycamores is a leading behavioral health and child welfare agency, creating life-changing programs and services which impact some of the most vulnerable children, young adults, adults and families in their community.

Luna Peak donated 40 Grief Workbooks and 40 Beyond Grief books to the El Nido program which is designed to provide care and supervision to dependent and/or neglected males, ages 11-18, many of whom are a part of the foster care or probation systems.

Childhood cancer foundation: memorial event in cancer awareness month

During Childhood Cancer Awareness month in September, the Childhood Cancer Foundation hosts a “Memorial Candle Lighting Ceremony” - a deeply meaningful evening held in honor of children who have faced cancer and the families who continue to hold their memories close.

Luna Peak has joined in this memorial to help provide free resources for grieving families, and to honor their loved ones beside them. 180+ grief books have been distributed at their memorial events in 2024 and 2025. Books include Beyond Grief, The Grief Workbook, and The Grief Workbook for Kids.

loma linda university hospital

70 cancer patient care packages were donated to the pediatric oncology ward at Loma Linda. Care packages include the Kicking Cancer workbook, Follow Me, Cancer Free book, sticker packs, crayons and a tote bag.

Dozens of Beyond Remission, Beyond Grief, and Grief Workbooks were also donated to the medical teams and parents of patients.

Care packages and books were distributed by our cofounder Melody (a childhood cancer survivor) directly into the hands of young cancer patients, which was an especially meaningful component of this program.

In subsequent donation events, Luna Peak has donated sets of Spanish translated books and 75+ more care packages to Loma Lina University Hospital.

long beach miller Children’s hospital

Cofounder Melody and Luna Peak volunteers delivered 50 care packages to child life specialist Ericka at Long Beach Miller Hospital for their pediatric oncology ward.

Torrance memorial hospital

100 Beyond Remission: Words of Advice for Thriving books were donated to the oncology office at the Torrance Memorial Hunt Cancer Center between 2020-2021. These books were given to nurse navigators to distribute to cancer patients as they entered their first chemo infusion - an important time to deliver this book of hope.

Over 150 Beyond Remission and Beyond Grief books were also donated to the Torrance Memorial Hospital Ambassadors in Spring 2022.

300 Beyond Remission books were also donated to the Hunt Cancer Center for patients and attendees at their National Cancer Survivor Day event in 2024.

Ronald mcdonald house - pasadena

100 Sean’s Best Week books were donated to the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House for both visitors and also campers at Ronald McDonald Camp for Good Times.

Pacific Cancer Foundation

60 books were donated to the Pacific Cancer Foundation in Maui, including titles Beyond Remission, Kicking Cancer, Follow Me, Cancer Free, Beyond Grief, and The Grief Workbook.

The Pacific Cancer Foundation provides assistance with insurance and finances, resources for transportation and housing, coordinate nutritional care, and offer support and information for each step of the process. Their mission is to make the cancer journey less stressful and confusing through providing access, knowledge, and support to all those affected by cancer in Maui county.

Akron children’s hospital

155 books were donated to Akron Children’s Hospital to support their educational outreach.

Banner Children’s at Desert

Luna Peak donated Kicking Cancer, Color Me, Cancer Free, and Grief Workbooks.

Kicking Cancer and Color Me, Cancer Free books were distributed to their Pediatric Oncology population. These books were utilized by Child Life Specialists in both inpatient and outpatient setting for diagnoses education and processing, distraction, and to support development.

The Grief Workbooks were used by the Childlife Specialist team in a variety of settings in the hospital. They support families in all settings and help children process loss of siblings, parents, grandparents, etc. These were used as a resource to facilitate our conversations and interventions.

100 Beyond Remission: Words of Advice for Thriving books were donated to Cedars-Sinai. These books were used in their rehab center for cancer survivors.

Schools & Universities

Donations to universities include Chapman University, Santa Clara University, and California State Fullerton. Donations to schools include Foothills Middle School. Cofounders Melody and Gracelyn lead lectures on the topics of cancer and grief and make donations to counselors and directly to students.
